198C Imelda May Live After Racing App. H'cap

J. Coen, rider of Craft Irish trained by P.J.F. Murphy, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount behaved badly in the parade ring and at the start.

J.J.G. Ryan, rider of Atlas trained by T.G.McCourt, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount jumped at the gates before they opened.

The Stewards enquired into the start of this race where it appeared that stall five may have opened momentarily early. Evidence was heard from the IHRB Starter, Mr. D. Cullen and J. J. G. Ryan, rider of Atlas. Mr. D. Cullen confirmed that the stalls were tested as normal prior to racing. He added that notwithstanding that Atlas had slightly forced his gate when it opened, a fair start had been effected. J. J. G. Ryan stated that his mount had anticipated the start and jumped at the stalls when they opened. Having considered all the evidence, the Stewards were satisfied that a fair start had been effected and they took no further action. J. J. G. Ryan was accompanied by Mr. Tom McCourt at this enquiry.

198D Irish Stallion Farms EBF (Fillies) M'dn

The Stewards enquired into possible interference in the closing stages involving Amusement, ridden by K.J. Leonard, placed second, Caroline Street (USA), ridden by S.M. Crosse, placed first, and Library, ridden by J.A. Heffernan, placed third, where it appeared that interference may have occurred. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. K. J. Leonard stated that he drifted towards the rail and heard J. A. Heffernan shouting. S. M. Crosse stated that he won well and caused no interference. J. A. Heffernan stated that he suffered interfernce, had to check and may have clipped a heel. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that while Amusement had caused interference to Library she did not improve her finishing position as a result of this interference so they made no alteration to the Judge’s placings. They were, however, of the opinion that K. J. Leonard, was in breach of Rule 214 in that he had ridden carelessly and having considered his record in this regard the Stewards suspended him for three race days.

198G Bulmers Secret Orchard Live Hcp

S. Foley, rider of Rock Of Candy trained by Mrs John Harrington, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount raced keen throughout.

The Stewards interviewed D.W. O'Connor, rider of S'all Good Man, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who accepted he was in breach of the whip Regulation. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were satisfied that D.W. O'Connor was in breach of R10.3(g) and having considered his record, they suspended him for 2 racedays.
