The Stewards enquired into an incident about one furlong from the finish involving Don Julio, ridden by P.A. Harnett, placed fifth and Cryptos Dream, ridden by M.P. Sheehy, unplaced, where it appeared that Cryptos Dream checked momentarily when Don Julio made an inward manoeuvre and crossed his path. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. In his evidence M.P. Sheehy stated that he took a precautionary check when Don Julio came across in front of his mount. P.A. Harnett stated that he saw a gap and went for it in the belief that he was clear of any horse on his inner. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were satisfied that P.A. Harnett was in breach of Rule 214 by riding carelessly when making his manoeuvre. Having taken his previous record into consideration, the Stewards cautioned P.A. Harnett on this occasion.
