S. Foley, rider of Broadstone (GB), trained by Mrs John Harrington, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount hung right throughout.
J.A. Powell, rider of General Grant, trained by Noel Meade, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount was slowly away from the stalls.
068B Paulstown H'capThe Raceday Stewards granted a request from Michael J. Browne, trainer of Suityourselfboss to run his charge without hind shoes as he had complied with the provisions of Regulation 16.
Adam Caffrey, rider of Higher Kingdom (GB), trained by Adrian McGuinness, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount was slowly away from the stalls.
C.D. Hayes, rider of Royal Tribute, trained by John C. McConnell, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount ran very free in the early stages.
The Raceday Stewards requested a report from J.G. Murray,trainer, as to the apparent improvement in form of Top Of The Pops (GB), placed first, as compared with its most recent form. The trainer reported that his charge benefited from a more favourable draw on this occasion and therefore could be ridden positively from the start and he felt this had helped to bring about the apparent improvement in form. Having considered the report, the Raceday Stewards noted the explanation offered.
068D Gowran Park Racing Club (C&G) M'dnD. McMonagle, rider of Glenroyal, trained by Joseph Patrick O'Brien, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount was slowly away from the stalls.
068E Racing Again April 16th M'dnThe Raceday Stewards enquired into the running and riding of Awakening, ridden by Julie Burke, and trained by John M.Burke. Evidence was heard from the rider and trainer concerned. Julie Burke stated that her instructions were to get her mount settled as it can be difficult and to do the best she could. She stated that her mount ran free at times in the race and she struggled to find cover when needed. When questioned on her riding in the closing stages, she said that her fitness levels were not what they should be as she had not ridden on the track for sometime. John M.Burke, confirmed the instructions given and expressed his satisfaction with the ride. He stated that the animal was having its first run for him and can be difficult at times and hard to settle. He further stated that his charge may benefit from a left handed track and may appreciate an ease in the ground. The Raceday Stewards also received a report from the Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer, who stated that Awakening had coughed a few times post race but was otherwise post race normal. Samples were taken for analysis. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards noted the explanations offered.
The Raceday Stewards fined John C. McConnell, trainer, €65, for failing to fit a tongue tie to Ardlena, prior to entering the parade ring.
P.A. Harnett, rider of Skib Gold (GB), trained by M. J. Byrne, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount was slowly away from the stalls.
