The Turf Club Veterinary Officer examined Back Bar, trained by Gordon Elliott, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to have pulled a right fore shoe and to have suffered a slight overreach on his right foreleg otherwise he was post race normal.

M.A. Enright, rider of Lough Navar (GB) trained by Eugene M. O'Sullivan, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount was pulled up having hung badly to the left.

319B Clonmel Oil Race Day H'cap H'dle

The Stewards requested a report from Henry de Bromhead, trainer, as to the apparent improvement in form of Poker Party (FR), placed first, as compared with its recent run at Cork on the 15th October. The trainer reported that A.E. Lynch rode this gelding at Cork where he ran freely early on when ridden close to the inside rail but more significantly his jumping was very poor except for the first hurdle. Since that run the gelding was schooled intensely at home by Dylan Robinson and he retained the partnership today but under instructions to give his mount plenty of light, let him jump in his hands and leave him alone. He added that the gelding only made one mistake today and that was at the last hurdle when asked to jump under pressure. In his opinion the change of tactics and method of riding contributed to the improved performance. Having considered the evidence the Stewards noted the content of the report.

319C Clonmel Oil Service Station H'cap H'dle

A.W. Short, rider of Kauto Grand Mogol (FR) trained by Miss Elizabeth Doyle, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount finished distressed.

The Stewards received a report from the Clerk of the Scales, Mr. P.L. Malone, that R.A. Doyle, nominated rider of Peace N' Milan, had presented himself at scales at 1lb overweight when weighing out and Francis J. Flood, trainer, was unwilling to accept any overweight and therefore requested a change of rider. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who stated that he had to lose 9lbs in weight overnight to ride at today's weight and he missed it by 1lb. He added that he had not ridden at this weight for some time but misjudged his body weight when accepting the ride through his agent. Having considered the evidence, the Stewards were satisfied that R.A. Doyle was in breach of Rule 195 (i) and therefore cautioned him having taken his previous record into consideration. The Stewards allowed the request for D.E. Mullins to replace R.A. Doyle.

319D Clonmel Oil S'chase

K.M. Donoghue, rider of Tiger Roll trained by Gordon Elliott, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount stopped quickly and was pulled up.
