The Stewards interviewed H. Smyth, trainer of Summer Wine, in relation to the behaviour of his charge, who unseated the rider in the parade ring and was withdrawn by order of the Stewards. Evidence was heard from the trainer concerned who stated that his charge had never behaved like that before. Having considered the evidence, the Stewards informed H. Smyth that a repeat performance from his charge may render the animal liable to suspension in the future.

B. Hayes, rider of Gamin Original (FR) trained by W.P. Mullins, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount stopped quickly.

The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Gamin Original (FR), trained by W.P. Mullins, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be blowing hard and showing signs of delayed recovery post race.

125B Sheridan Electric H'dle

The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Palm Beach, trained by Joseph Patrick O'Brien, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.

125D Bank Of Ireland H'cap H'dle

The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Listenheretomejack, trained by Eoin Doyle, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be clinically abnormal with a bilateral nasal discharge post race.

The Stewards enquired into possible interference in the closing stages of this race involving Stamp Your Feet, ridden by M.P. Walsh, placed second and Youngnedofthehill, ridden by Rachael Blackmore, placed first, where it appeared that interference may have occurred. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. M. P. Walsh stated that he had suffered interference and he felt it had cost him a place. Rachael Blackmore stated that her mount went slightly left but she corrected it immediately. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards made no alteration to the Judge's placings and took no further action.

The Stewards interviewed C.D. Timmons, rider of Gray Duke, concerning his use of the whip leaving the back straight of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who did not accept that he had used his whip unnecessarily. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were satisfied that C. D. Timmons was in breach of Regulation 10.3.b, the unnecessary hitting of a horse after its chance of winning or being placed is clearly gone. Having considered C. D. Timmons record in this regard the Stewards suspended C. D. Timmons for two racedays.

125F TOTE H'cap S'chase

The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Ego Des Mottes (FR), trained by E. Bolger, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal have a wound on the left hind hock but to be otherwise post race normal. Samples were taken for further analysis.

125G Irish Stallion Farms EBF (M) Flat Race

The Stewards interviewed Mr M. J. Sweeney, Qualified rider, in relation to a report that they received from the Irish Horse Racing Regulatory Board that Mr. M. J. Sweeney had failed in his obligations under Rule 14(i)(b), to attend the Racing Academy and Centre of Education for tuition on the correct use of the whip, having been ordered to do so by the Acting Stewards at Thurles on March the 20th, when found in breach of Regulation 10.3.g. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who stated that while he had confirmed his attendance at R.A.C.E today he subsequently took a ride a declaration time to ride today at Ballinrobe. Having considered the evidence, the Stewards considered it appropriate, that on balance in this instance, the interests of the Owner and Trainer were best served by allowing Mr. M. J. Sweeney to take up the mount. However, The Stewards referred the matter to the I.H.R.B and they informed Mr. M. J. Sweeney that until such time as he has attended the session on the correct use of the whip at the R.A.C.E, he would not be allowed to ride either on the racecourse or in Point to Points. Furthermore, the Stewards advised Mr. M. J. Sweeney that he will have to pay for the session again as he failed to give any notice for his non attendance.
