Snowfox Appeal

The Appeals Body (Division 2) Mr. J.R. Craigie (in the chair), Mr. M.C. Hickey, Mr. P.N. Reynolds met in the Stewards Room on the Curragh Racecourse on Friday 10th March, 2005 to consider an Appeal lodged by Mr. Joseph Crowley, trainer, on behalf of owners Christopher Beirne and Mrs Sarah Crowley against the decision of the Acting Stewards at Limerick on 5th February, 2006 when following the running of the Coffee Construction Maiden Hurdle, the Acting Stewards found that “Snowfox” had not been allowed run on her merits and that the Jockey had made insufficient effort to achieve his best possible placing.  The rider was suspended for twenty one racedays and forfeited his riding fee, the horse was suspended from running for sixty days and the trainer was cautioned to give clearer instructions to his riders in future.  The rider has not appealed his suspension and the trainer has not appealed his caution.

Evidence was heard from Joseph Crowley, trainer, P.F. Graffin, Stewards Secretary, and a film of the race was also viewed.  Having considered the evidence, the Appeals Body dismissed the Appeal. The suspension on the horse was confirmed and commences on Saturday, 11th March, 2006.
