R.P. McNamara Appeal - Cork 18th November 2007

The Appeals Body, (Division Two), Mr. J.R. Craigie (in the Chair), Capt. S.H. Walford and Ms. Meta Osborne met in the Offices of the Governing Bodies, Turf Club, Curragh, Co. Kildare on 28th November 2007 to consider the appeal of Mr. R.P. McNamara, Qualified Rider, against the severity of the ban imposed by the Acting Stewards at Cork on 18th November when, following the running of the Killetra (Pro/Am) Flat Race, he was suspended for 21 racedays for weighing out with a body protector that did not comply with the Turf Club Rules and Instructions pertaining to body protectors.


Evidence was heard from Paul Murtagh, Clerk of the Scales and R.P. McNamara, while and the Appeals Body also considered a written submission from Mr. D.K. Weld, Trainer.

Having considered the evidence the Appeals Body dismissed the appeal.

The case was presented to the Committee by Mr. Brian Price, Wilkinson & Price Solicitors, Naas, Co. Kildare.  R.P. McNamara was represented by Mr. Andrew Coonan, Coonan Cawley Solicitors, Naas, Co. Kildare.
