P.B. Beggy Referral

P.B. Beggy Referral
Failure to appear at an Appeal – 16th May 2011

The Referrals Committee Neville O’Byrne (in the chair), J.R. Craigie and Philip Caffrey met at the Turf Club, The Curragh, Co. Kildare on 9th June to consider the referral of P.B. Beggy, rider, following his failure to appear at an appeal at the Turf Club on 16th May 2011 having been requested to do so.

Evidence was heard from P.B. Beggy who confirmed that he had been verbally notified of the appeal. He explained the reason for his non-appearance which was a result of the letter convening the appeal being sent to an old address.

Denis Egan, Chief Executive of the Turf Club, outlined the background to the convening of the appeal and the background to what occurred.

Having considered the evidence, the Committee accepted the explanation given but recommended to P.B. Beggy that he should ensure that his address on both the Turf Club and HRI system is kept up to date.

The case was presented by Denis Egan, Chief Executive of the Turf Club.
