N. Madden / Akram Referral

N. Madden – Akram
Curragh – 17th July 2010

The Referrals Committee, Judge Tony Hunt (in the Chair), Philip Caffrey and Sean Barry met at the Turf Club on 13th August 2010 to consider the referral of N. Madden, trainer of Akram when following the running of the Sir Edmund Loder Lifetime Achievement in Racing Handicap at The Curragh on 17th July 2010, he was referred for a possible breach of Rule 213 as the Stewards were of the opinion that he had failed to report something that may have affected the horse on his previous run.

Evidence was heard from N. Madden, who accepted that due to extenuating circumstances he didn’t report the fact that Akram had bled at Dundalk.

Having considered the evidence and taken into account all the circumstances of this particular case including Mr. Madden’s previous record, the Committee imposed a fine of €200.

The case was presented by Denis Egan, Chief Executive of the Turf Club.  N. Madden was represented by Andrew Coonan, Coonan Cawley Solicitors, Naas, Co. Kildare.
