The Referrals Committee, Mr. G.A. Holmes (in the Chair), Mrs. J.O. Onions and Mr. P.J.A. O’Connor, met at the Stand House Hotel, The Curragh, Co. Kildare, on Wednesday, 7th June, 2006, to consider a report from the BHP Laboratories in Limerick that the biological fluid sample taken from “Doc Martin”, owned by Mr. Sean Macklin, following its win in the Confined Hunt Race at the Killultagh, Old Rock & Chichester Harriers Point to Point meeting on 22nd April, 2006, was found to contain Phenylbutazone and Oxyphenbutazone which, under Rule 20 (v), are Prohibited Substances.  

The Committee heard evidence from Mr. Liam Lennon representing Mr. Sean Macklin, owner, and from Ms. Joan Taylor, Turf Club Veterinary Officer, and having considered the evidence the Stewards fined Mr. Macklin €130 and disqualified “Doc Martin” from first place and ordered the result to be amended accordingly, as follows:-

First:        “Ballyhill Boy”,
Second:    “Copper Spark”.
