Mr. Paul Nolan  -  “Hip Bohn” Prohibited Substance

Waterford & Tramore, 1st June, 2007.

The Referrals Committee, Mr. A. Hunt (in the Chair), Mr. C.E. O’Sullivan and Mrs. T.K. Cooper, met in the Stewards Room at the Curragh Racecourse on Wednesday, 29th August, 2007, to enquire into a report received from BHP Laboratories in Limerick that Phenylbutazone and Oxyphenbutazone were present in the biological fluid sample taken from “Hip Bohn” following its win in the Kilbarry Lodge Stud I.N.H. Flat Race at Tramore on 1st June, 2007.  Phenylbutazone and Oxyphenbutazone are Prohibited Substances pursuant to Rule 20 (v) and the schedule of Prohibited Substances.  Evidence was heard from Mr. Andrew Tyrrell, Turf Club Veterinary Officer, and Mr. Paul Nolan, Trainer. 

Having considered the evidence the Referrals Committee fined Mr. Nolan €130 and disqualified “Hip Bohn” from first place, ordering the result to be amended accordingly, as follows:-

First:  Polly’s Girl
Second: That’s An Honour
Third:  Foraois
Fourth: Niamh’s Flyer

The case was presented to the Committee by Mr. Sean Barry, Registrar, I.N.H.S. Committee.
