Mr. Liam Lennon  -  “Dont Panic (FR)” Prohibited Substance

Down Royal, 26th December, 2008.

The Referrals Committee, Mr. B.J. Fitzsimmons (in the Chair), Mr. R.S. Martin and Dr. J.F. Gillespie, met at Downpatrick Racecourse on Wednesday 25th February, 2009, to consider a report from BHP Laboratories in Limerick that the biological fluid sample taken from “Dont Panic (FR)” following its win in the Duke of York Pro Am INH Flat Race at Down Royal on 26th December, 2008, was found to contain Dembrexine which is included in the schedule of Prohibited Substances pursuant to Rule 20 (v) of the Rules of Racing and the Irish National Hunt Steeplechase Rules.  Evidence was heard from Mr. Liam Lennon, Trainer, and Mr. T.J. Smith, Turf Club Veterinary Officer.

Having considered the evidence the Referrals Committee fined Mr. Lennon €130 and disqualified “Dont Panic (FR)” from first place and ordered the record be amended to read as follows:-

First:  Hughies Grey
Second: Financialregulator
Third:  Iveagh House
Fourth: Blind Mans Bluff (GB)

The case was presented to the Committee by Mr. Sean Barry, Registrar, I.N.H.S. Committee.
