Mr. G. Elliott - Nedzer’s Return Disqualified

Westmeath (F) Point to Point, 7th October, 2012.

The Referrals Committee, Judge Tony Hunt (in the Chair), Sean Barry and Hugh M. Ferguson met at the Turf Club, The Curragh, Co. Kildare, on Monday 17th December, 2012, to consider a referral from Josh Byrne, Registrar of the I.N.H.S. Committee concerning a report that Nedzer’s Return, owned and handled by Gordon Elliott, ran in the Open Lightweight Race (Novice Riders) at the Westmeath (F) Point to Point meeting on 7th October, 2012, wearing a hood, thus contravening Regulation 27 of the Regulations for Point to Point Steeplechases.  A written submission received from Gordon Elliott explaining the background to the case was considered by the Committee.

The Committee having considered the evidence ruled that Nedzer’s Return ran in contravention of Regulation 27 of the Regulations for Point to Point Steeplechases and they therefore disqualified the horse from first place.  They ordered that the records be amended accordingly.

The case was presented to the Committee by Josh Byrne, Registrar, I.N.H.S. Committee.

The result now reads:-

First:  Benalma
Second: Nipper John
