J.P. Fahy – Fairyhouse 19th October 2008

The Referrals Committee, Mrs. J.O. Onions (in the chair), Mr. J.R. Craigie and Mr. T.P. Rudd, met at the Stewards Room, Naas Racecourse, Naas, Co Kildare on 25th October 2008 to enquire into the use of the whip by J.P. Fahy, Rider on Rouvres Girl in the closing stages of the Derrinstown Stud Apprentice Handicap at Fairyhouse on 19th October.  The Acting Stewards at Fairyhouse were unable to conduct an enquiry on the day as J.P. Fahy had left the racecourse in advance of the enquiry being called.  As a result the matter was referred to the Referrals Committee by Mr. Denis Egan, Chief Executive.

Evidence was heard from J.P. Fahy and J.M. Oxx (Master of J.P. Fahy).  The Committee also viewed videos of the race.

Having considered the evidence the Committee found that J.P. Fahy was in breach of Regulation 10 and suspended him from racing for three racedays (14th, 21st and 28th November)  They also recommended that he attend R.A.C.E. for tuition regarding the use of the whip in view of his record.

The Case was presented by Mr. Denis Egan, Chief Executive of the Turf Club.

Notes to Editor: J.P. Fahy was already suspended on 2nd and 7th November at the time of the hearing.
