John J. Hanlon Appeal - Tralee 22nd August 2007

The Appeals Body, (Division Two), Mr. J.R. Craigie (in the Chair), Capt. S.H. Walford and Ms. Meta Osborne met in the Offices of the Governing Bodies, Turf Club, Curragh, Co. Kildare on 28th November 2007 to consider the appeal of Mr. John J. Hanlon, Trainer, against the decision of the Acting Stewards at Tralee on 22nd August when following the running of the Denis Moriarty Plant Hire Claiming Race, he was fined €3,000 for a breach of Rule 272 in that he was unable to make immediate payment by Bankers Draft as required under the provisions of the Instructions on Page 238 of the 2007 Rule Book.

Evidence was heard from Denis Egan, Chief Executive, Irish Turf Club, James P. Johnston, Turf Club Head of Security, P.F. Graffin, Stewards Secretary at Tralee and John J. Hanlon.

Having considered the evidence the Appeals Body allowed the appeal.

The case was presented to the Committee by Mr. Brian Price, Wilkinson & Price Solicitors, Naas, Co. Kildare.  John J. Hanlon was represented by Mr. Andrew Coonan, Coonan Cawley Solicitors, Naas, Co. Kildare.
