The Stewards requested a report from Miss Katy Brown, trainer as to the apparent improvement in form of Effernock Fizz, placed first, as compared with its recent form. Banahan, under Rule 40, the Stewards enquired into the apparent failure of riders to obey the Starter's instructions on three occasions under Rule 208. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. McInerney had made genuine attempts to follow the Starter's orders and they therefore took no further action. The Stewards were of the opinion that D.E. Mullins, P. Townend, D. O' Keefe, N.P. Madden, L. Dempsey, B.J. Cooper, R.A. Doyle, D. Meyler, S.A. Shortall, P.E. Corbett, A.W. Short and S. O' Keefe were in breach of Rule 208 in that they failed to obey the starter's instructions.
