The Stewards authorised the following substitutions of riders at this meeting:

Mr.R.M.Cody rode Jetstream Joe, trained by Eoin Doyle (Race 8)(see report)
G.N.Fox rode Moorhill Lad (reserve) , trained by J.Larkin (Race 3)
A.P.Heskin rode Fantastic Bob (reserve) , trained by Augustine Leahy (Race 3)

108A Hotel Minella M'dn H'dle

The Stewards enquired into the running and riding of Bomber Jackson, ridden by J.M. Moore, and trained by Mrs. Y. Dunleavy. Evidence was heard from the rider and trainer concerned. J.M. Moore, stated that his instructions were to drop his horse out and ride a race, bearing in mind he has been keen on the flat. He added that the horse was unable to go the quick early pace but stayed on past beaten horses in the straight. He concluded by saying that the horse may be suited by a step up in trip on better ground. Mrs. Y. Dunleavy, confirmed the instructions and expressed her satisfaction with the ride and also with the horse's performance. The Stewards also received a report from the Turf Club Veterinary Officer who stated that Bomber Jackson was post race normal. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards noted the explanations offered.

B. Hayes, rider of Conan's Rock (GB) trained by John Joseph Hanlon, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount lost his action and was pulled up.

B.T. O'Connell, rider of Winters Day trained by Norman Lee, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount finished lame.

The Turf Club Veterinary Officer examined Winters Day, at the request of trainer, Norman Lee, and reported the animal to be post race normal.

108B(i) Ryans Cleaning Event Specialists Hcp Hdl (Division One)

The Turf Club Veterinary Officer examined Key Account, at the request of trainer, L. Byrne, and reported the animal to be abnormal post race.

108B(ii) Ryans Cleaning Event Specialists Hcp Hdl (Division Two)

D.N. Russell, rider of Mick The Boyo trained by James Grace, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount got very tired.

The Turf Club Veterinary Officer examined Massini's Brook, at the request of trainer, Noel Lawlor, and reported the animal to have suffered a small skin wound on its right fore leg.

108C Kedrah House Stud 'Well Chosen' Beg S'ch

D.J. Mullins, rider of Mells Theater trained by Colin Bowe, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount lost his action and was pulled up.

108D Kilfeacle Stud H'cap S'chase

The Stewards interviewed D. Robinson, rider, in relation to his riding where he appeared to stop riding in the closing stages and was beaten a short head for fourth. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who stated that he mistook the winning post and stopped riding for the last few strides. Having considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that the rider was in breach of Rule 212 and having considered his record, suspended him for two race days and ordered that he forfeit his riding fee.

The Stewards requested a report from James Joseph Mangan, trainer as to the apparent improvement in form of Winter Magic, placed first, as compared with its recent form. The trainer reported that his charge disappointed on his last two starts and was subsequently checked out but nothing showed up. He added that the application of first time blinkers seems to have helped his charge return to form. Having considered the evidence the Stewards noted the explanation offered.

B.J. Cooper, rider of Pink Coat (GB) trained by Ms. Sandra Hughes, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount jumped poorly.

108F p2p.ie (Mares) Pt-To-Pt INH Flat Race

Mr P.D. Collins, rider of Take A Twirl, trained by Terence O'Brien, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount made a respiratory noise and was pulled up.

The Turf Club Veterinary Officer examined Take A Twirl, trained by Terence O'Brien, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.

108G p2p.ie (C&G) Pt-To-Pt INH Flat Race

The Stewards interviewed Eoin Doyle, trainer, concerning the failure to nominate a rider before the designated time for Jetstream Joe. Evidence was heard from the trainer who stated that he tried to nominate Mr.R.M.Cody on his charge but must have failed to confirm this online. Having considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that the trainer was in breach of Regulation 3 and cautioned him concerning his future responsibilities in this regard.

The Stewards fined Terence O'Brien, trainer, €350 for lodging a passport in respect of Kilquane Jack, in which the vaccinations did not conform with the provisions of Rule 91. The Stewards allowed the horse to run on receipt of the trainer's written assurance that the vaccinations were in order.

The Stewards interviewed Mr M.C. O'Donovan, rider of Jennys Day, concerning his use of the whip in this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion that the rider was in breach of Regulation 10.3(f) and 10.4, in that he used the whip with excessive frequency and without giving his mount time to respond and having considered his record, suspended him for one race day.
