The Stewards authorised the following substitutions of riders at this meeting:

P.D.Kennedy replaced D.E. Splaine on Mount Masada, trained by D.E.Fitzgerald (Race 1)(unwell)
B.T.O'Connell rode St Agnes Church (reserve) , trained by S.J.Mahon (Race 1)
P.D.Kennedy replaced D.E. Splaine on Go Roddy Go, trained by D.E.Fitzgerald (Race 3)(unwell)
R.Loughran replaced D.E. Splaine on Nicat's Benefit, trained by Miss Elizabeth Anne Lalor (Race 5)(unwell)
M.A.Enright rode Our Lady Lucy (reserve) , trained by Mrs Denise Foster (Race 5)
J.J.Burke replaced D.E. Splaine on Wilde 'N Wide, trained by A.J. McNamara (Race 6)(unwell)

023B Rock Of Cashel H'cap S'chase

The Stewards requested a report from J.P.Dempsey, trainer as to the apparent improvement in form of Dinnie's Vinnie, placed first, as compared with its recent form. The trainer reported that his charge disapointed on his last start in Fairyhouse when wearing blinkers and a tongue tie. In order to try something different, all aids were removed today and this appeared to have the desired effect. Having considered the evidence the Stewards noted the explanation offered.

The Stewards requested a report from P.M. Cloke, trainer as to the apparent improvement in form of Flynsini, placed second, as compared with its recent form. The trainer reported that his charge disappointed on his last start in Fairyhouse when wearing blinkers and a tongue tie. In order to try something different, all equipment was removed and this appeared to have the desired effect. Having considered the evidence the Stewards noted the explanation offered.

C.M. Leonard, rider of Ancient Highway trained by P.A.Fahy, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount never travelled.

B.M. Cash, rider of Rebel Ace trained by W.J. Burke, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount hung left.

The Stewards enquired into the running and riding of Jimmyjames (GB), ridden by J.P. O'Sullivan, and trained by P.J. Rothwell. Evidence was heard from the rider and trainer concerned. J.P. O'Sullivan, stated that his instructions were to to settle his mount towards the rear and get him to finish the race out well. He added that the horse ran freely and jumped big and deliberately. He also stated that the horse made a noise in the back straight. P.J. Rothwell, confirmed the instructions and stated that the horse can be very tricky in the preliminaries and difficult to settle. The Stewards also received a report from the Turf Club Veterinary Officer who stated that Jimmyjames was post race normal. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards noted the explanations offered, however the rider was cautioned to be seen to be more forceful in future. He was also cautioned concerning his future responsibilities to report at the first instance, anything that may have affected the running of a horse.

023E Holycross M'dn H'dle

D.N. Russell, rider of Hows Patsy trained by Stephen Ryan, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount was pulled up and may have a respiratory problem.

S.E. Butler, rider of Johnny Roebuck trained by Seamus Fahey, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount hung right and was pulled up.

E. O'Connell, rider of Sapphire West trained by Seamus G. O'Donnell, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount hung left and was pulled up.

023F Killinan H'cap H'dle

C.D. Maxwell, rider of Uptake (GB) trained by Dermot Anthony McLoughlin, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount stopped quickly and made a respiratory noise before being pulled up.

D.J. Hand, rider of Wee Small Hours trained by Dermot Anthony McLoughlin, reported to the Clerk of Scales that the overgirth snapped and his saddle slipped in running.

John W. Nicholson, trainer of Alphabelle, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his charge never let herself down on the ground.
