The Stewards received a report from the Clerk of the Scales, Mr P.L. Malone, that S.W. Flanagan, rider of Robertstown Rover had weighed in at 1.9lbs overweight. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who stated that he had originally declared the possibility of carrying up to 2lbs overweight but on arrival at the course today he went to scales at the correct weight. He admitted that he had lost about 4lbs in weight to do the weight and had a drink to rehydrate. Having considered the evidence, the Stewards were satisfied that S.W. Flanagan was in breach of Rule 231 and suspended him for 1 raceday having taken his good previous record into consideration..

The Stewards attempted to request a report from R.H. Lalor, trainer as to the apparent improvement in form of Carrigeen Kariega, placed first as compared with its recent form. Mr R.H. Lalor had left the premises by the time his attendance was sought. The Stewards referred this matter to the CEO of the Turf Club to pursue this enquiry.
