Protecting the Integrity & Reputation of Irish Horseracing

Thurles 17th December 2017

343A Jim Murphy Fence Builder EBF Beg S'chase

The Stewards enquired into possible interference in the closing stages of this race involving Veneziano Springs (FR), ridden by D.E. Splaine, placed second and Wishmoor, ridden by Rachael Blackmore, placed third, where it appeared that interference may have occurred. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards made no alteration to the Judge's placings. The Stewards did, however, advise D.E. Splaine to ride with more awareness in the future.

K.M. Donoghue, rider of Fire In His Eyes, trained by Gordon Elliott, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount made a noise in running.

The Stewards requested a report from D.F. O'Regan, rider of Kopookris, trained by Liam P Cusack, who reported that his mount was unable to go the strong early pace but stayed on in the closing stages.

John J Fitzpatrick, rider of Lough Derg Lyric trained by P.G.Coffey, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount pulled up having made a noise in the back straight.

343B Molony Cup H'cap S'chase

The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Milanesque trained by Paul W. Flynn was found to have had blood on the nose as a result of exercise induced pulmonary haemorrhage post race.

343C Adare Manor Opportunity H'cap S'chase

C.D. Timmons, rider of Flemenstorm, trained by Edward Cawley, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount hung right and jumped right throughout this race.

The Turf Club Veterinary Officer examined Flemenstorm, trained by Edward Cawley, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.

The Stewards interviewed C.A. Landers, rider of Bitview Colin, concerning his use of the whip in the last circuit of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards found C.A. Landers to be in breach of Regulation 10.3 (f) in that he used his whip with excessive frequency. Having considered his record in this regard, the Stewards suspended C.A. Landers for four racedays and ordered him to attend R.A.C.E. for one day's tuition on the correct use of the whip.

343D ISF EBF Boreen Belle (M) Novice H'dle

The Stewards requested a report from John M.Burke, trainer, as to the apparent improvement in form of Killahara Castle, placed first, as compared with its form. Patrick Burke, authorised representative of John M. Burke, stated that his charge is a difficult mare to train. He added that she normally wears a hood which was omitted for today's race in an attempt to allow her to settle better. He felt the fast pace at which the race was run allowed her plenty of light, and this, in his opinion, may have explained her apparent improvement in form. Having considered the report, the Stewards noted the explanation offered.

The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Creation (FR) trained by Henry de Bromhead was slightly lame behind post race.

343F Horse & Jockey Hotel Rated Novice H'dle

The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Turasoir trained by John W. Nicholson was found to have pulled its right fore shoe post race.

343G Ryan Tarmacadam (Pro-Am) INH Flat Race

The Stewards informed Patrick Burke, authorised representative of John M.Burke, trainer of Darcis Boy, that a repeat of his charge's behaviour such as today may liable his charge for a suspension in the future.
