The Stewards enquired into an incident about three furlongs from the finish involving Invincible Diamond, ridden by Adrian O'Shea, placed first, Tagg's Island, ridden by N.G. McCullagh, placed second and Cathy's Pursuit, ridden by W.J. Lee, unplaced, where it appeared Tagg's Island ran short of room and was checked. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that the incident was caused by Adrian O'Shea riding carelessly and consequently cautioned him having taken into consideration his good previous record.

The Turf Club Veterinary Officer examined Newton Bomb, trained by W. McCreery, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.

P.J. Smullen, rider of Not Really trained by D. K. Weld, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount hung badly to the left throughout this race.

223B(i) Sligo GAA Race Day At Sligo H'cap (Division One)

The Stewards informed Andrew Slattery, trainer that Loveisforever, would have to be recertified before being declared to run from stalls again.

The Stewards requested a report from H.Rogers, trainer, as to the apparent improvement in form of La Canaada, placed first, as compared with its most recent run at Naas 23rd July. H. Rogers reported that he had trained this animal for it's last four runs and felt that the disappointing run the last day at Naas could only be attributed to the fact that the ground was in his opinion firm and not suited to his charge who has shown her best form with an ease in the ground. Having considered the evidence the Stewards noted the content of the report.

The Stewards interviewed M.F. Mooney, rider of The Trigger, concerning his use of the whip between the last hurdle and the winning post. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were satisfied that M.F. Mooney was in breach of R10(3)(g) by using his whip above shoulder height and consequently suspended him for 2 racedays having taken his previous record into consideration.

223F Sligo Park Hotel H'cap H'dle

A.P. Crowe, rider of The Two Jays, trained by C.P.Donoghue, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount was brought to a standstill by the fall of Kinneagh Cross and lost considerable ground.

The Stewards interviewed D.G. Hogan, rider of Drive The Bus, concerning his use of the whip between the final turn and the winning post. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion that D.G. Hogan was in breach of R10(3)(f) and R10(4) by using his whip with excessive frequency and by failing to give his mount time to respond. Having taken his previous record into consideration the Stewards suspended D.G. Hogan for 2 racedays.
