Roscommon 6th July 2015

169A Irish Stallion Farms EBF M'dn

S. Foley, rider of Haraz, trained by M.Halford, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his saddle slipped within the first one and a half furlongs of this race and he was unable to assist his mount from thereon.

169B Supervalu's Roscommon Apprentice H'cap

The Stewards enquired into an incident early in the straight involving Six Of Hearts (GB), ridden by J.W. Kennedy, placed third, Sofi's Spirit, ridden by C.R. King, placed second and Mistress Marinrio, ridden by C.P. Hoban, where Mistress Marinrio ran through the running rail and consequently pulled up. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were satisfied that Mistress Marinrio went through the running rail without receiving any interference and therefore took no further action. Cecil Ross, trainer of Six Of Hearts (GB) accompanied J.W. Kennedy at this enquiry.

The Stewards interviewed C.R. King, rider of Sofi's Spirit, placed second, concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were satisfied that C.R. King was in breach of R10(3)(a) by using his whip in front of the saddle while held in the forehand position where exceptional circumstances did not prevail and consequently suspended him for 1 raceday having taken his previous record into consideration.

169D Irish Stallion Farms EBF M'dn

The Stewards informed John Joseph Murphy, trainer that Quarterdeck, would have to be recertified before being declared to run from stalls again.

J.P. O'Brien, rider of Torrey Pines, trained by A.P.O'Brien, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount ran off two bends and did not handle the track.

The Stewards interviewed C.T. Keane, rider of Van Schaick, concerning his use of the whip in the final three furlongs of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were satisfied that C.T. Keane was in breach of R10(3)(f) by using his whip with excessive frequency and consequently cautioned him having taken his good previous record into consideration.

169E Lenebane Stakes

J.A. Heffernan, rider of Bantry Bay, trained by A.P.O'Brien, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount was unable to go the pace when the race quickened off a slow early pace.

The Stewards requested a report from A. Oliver, trainer as to the apparent improvement in form of Panama Hat (GB), placed first, as compared with its previous run at the Curragh 28th June. A. Oliver reported that he had no known explanation for the below average performance the last day but made one alteration today by fitting a half cup blinker instead of the previously successful use of cheek pieces and believed that this may have contributed to his charge returning to form. Having considered the evidence the Stewards noted the content of the report.
