228B Foran Equine Irish EBF Auction Race

The Stewards enquired into possible interference in the early stages of this race involving Burmese Blazer, ridden by C.T. Keane, placed fifth, Still Standing, ridden by C. O'Donoghue, unplaced, Bronze Age, ridden by N.G. McCullagh, placed fourth and Famous Affair, ridden by R.P. Cleary, placed sixth, where it appeared that interference may have occured. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards found N.G. McCullagh to be in breach of rule 214 in that he rode carelessly. Having considered N.G. McCullagh's good record in this regard, the Stewards suspended him for 1 raceday.

228C Murray Ambulance M'dn

D.P. McDonogh, rider of Kendwar (FR) trained by Andrew Slattery, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount reared up leaving the stalls and ran freely thereafter.

228D Eurona BriskNet H'cap

The Stewards enquired into possible interference in the closing stages of this race involving Compass Hill (USA), ridden by S. Foley, placed third, Stoked, ridden by R.P. Cleary, placed second and Tom Dooley, ridden by S.P. Davis, unplaced, where it appeared that interference may have occured causing Stoked to check. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that any interference was accidental in nature and took no further action.

S. Foley, rider of Compass Hill (USA) trained by John Joseph Murphy, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount ran around a bit.

W.J. Lee, rider of Fair Game trained by E.J. O'Grady, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount was left at the stalls and was slowly away.

R.P. Cleary, rider of Stoked trained by Luke Comer, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount met with interference and was stopped up the straight.

The Stewards interviewed R.P. Cleary, rider of Stoked, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion that R.P. Cleary was in breach of regulation 10.3 (a) in that he used his whip in the forehand position in front of the saddle and regulation 10.3 (f) in that he used his whip with excessive frequency. Having considered R.P. Cleary's previous record in this regard, the Stewards suspended R.P. Cleary for 1 raceday.

The Stewards enquired into the apparent improvement in form of Youceeyouceecee, trained by Miss Susan A Finn, placed, first compared with its recent form. Evidence was heard from the trainer concerned who stated that the horse is a heavy shouldery horse who did not get down the hill in Galway but improved going up the hill. In Tipperary he found the ground to be too fast. In her opinion the horse prefers flat, level tracks with soft to heavy underfoot conditions. Evidence was also heard from the Turf Club Flat Handicapper Mr. Garry O' Gorman, who stated that following four bad runs in 2017, the horse had been dropped 11lbs and today's run was a considerable improvment on all of this years runs. Having considered the evidence the Stewards noted Susan A. Finn's explanation.

228E Abbey Hotel Roscommon M'dn

The Stewards enquired into possible interference in the closing stages of this race involving Newcross, ridden by P.J. Smullen,unplaced, Giorni Felice, ridden by R.P. Downey, placed first, Winston Wolfe, ridden by C.D. Hayes, placed third, World Stage, ridden by D. O'Brien, placed fifth and Our Anniversary (FR), ridden by C.P. Hoban, placed fourth, where it appeared interference may have occured causing Our Anniversary to check. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards made no alteration to the judge's placings, however found R.P. Downey to be in breach of rule 214 in that he rode carelessly. Having considered R.P. Downey's record in this regard they suspended him for 2 racedays.

The Stewards informed Tracey Collins, trainer that Grand Armada (GB), would have to be recertified before being declared to run from stalls again.

228G Pyramid Bookmakers H'cap

The Stewards enquired into possible interference in the closing stages of this race involving Collision Course, ridden by W.J. Lee, placed third and On The Go Again, ridden by G.F. Carroll, placed first, where it appeared interference may have occured. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that any interference was accidental in nature and took no further action.

228H Sean Cleary Memorial H'cap

C.D. Hayes, rider of Dixie Highway trained by Patrick J.Flynn, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount was awkward out of the stalls and lost ground.

The Stewards fined P.A. Fahy, trainer, €350 for failing to lodge a passport in respect of Kates Doll, in accordance with the provisions of Rule 90 (viii). The Stewards allowed the horse to run on receipt of the trainer's written assurance that the vaccinations were in order.
