The Stewards authorised the following substitutions of riders at this meeting:

Mr D. Roche replaced Miss K. Harrington on The Princetonian, trained by Mrs John Harrington (Race 7)(Injured)

084A Martinstown Opportunity Final H'cap H'dl

The Stewards received a report from Turf Club Starter,P.F. Graffin, that T.N. Brett, rider of Bitview Colin and A. McCurtin, rider of Danali had failed to obey his instructions thereby causing a false start. Evidence was heard from the starter and riders concerned. Having viewed the recording of the incident and considered the evidence, the Stewards were satisfied that T.N. Brett and A. McCurtin were in breach of Rule 208 by failing to comply with the instructions of the Starter. Having taken each riders record into consideration the Stewards suspended T.N. Brett for 1 raceday and A. McCurtin for 3 racedays.

T.N. Brett, rider of Bitview Colin trained by John Patrick Ryan, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount sustained a cut to a hind leg and furthermore met with interference on the turn into the straight.

084B Louis Fitzgerald Hotel H'dle

M.J. Bolger, rider of Beyond The Obvious trained by M.M.Lynch, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount was pulled up having stopped very quickly.

M.P. Walsh, rider of Minella Till Dawn trained by Gordon Elliott, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount was pulled up having never travelled during this race.

The Turf Club Veterinary Officer examined Minella Till Dawn, trained by Gordon Elliott, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be lame post race.

084D Coral Punchestown Gold Cup

B.J. Cooper, rider of Outlander trained by Gordon Elliott, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount was pulled up having never travelled and jumped poorly during this race.

The Stewards interviewed R. Walsh, rider of Djakadam (FR), concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion that R. Walsh was in breach of R10(3)(f) by using his whip with excessive frequency and R(10)(4) by failing to give his mount time to respond to the whip. Having taken his previous record into consideration the Stewards suspended R. Walsh for 2 racedays
