038B Nobber M'dn H'dle

The Stewards enquired into the running and riding of Scoby Hill, ridden by N.T. Prendergast, and trained by Paul Nolan. Evidence was heard from the trainer and rider concerned. Paul Nolan, trainer, stated that this rider was familiar with Scoby Hill from her homework where she is a very difficult ride, runs very free and has a high head carriage. Consequently the rider was instructed to settle his mount at the rear of the field and on her own if possible, get her jumping, to try and get into the race and hopefully get her to run well. He expressed his satisfaction with the ride this being the riders fourth ride on the track and felt that the filly had limited ability but had attained her best possible placing without the whip being used. N.T. Prendergast, rider, confirmed the instructions and added that his mount was keen early on but settled towards the rear and travelled to the end of the back straight. Having come off the bridle at that point he kept a hold of her head and tried to coax her along but felt that his mount had tired by the second last and only passed a few very tired horses on the run from the final flight. The Stewards also received a report from the Turf Club Veterinary Officer who stated that Scoby Hill was blowing hard post race. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards noted the explanations offered and took no further action other than to advise N.T. Prendergast to be seen to make more of an effort in his riding in the future.

038D Follow Navan Facebook Beginners S'chase

The Stewards interviewed Thomas Gibney, trainer of Velvet Rose, regarding the late arrival of the horse into the Parade Ring. Evidence was heard from the trainer who stated that the delay was caused by a communication error with a member of staff in relation to the delivery of the colour bag to the Jockeys changing room. Having considered the evidence, the Stewards were satisfied that Thomas Gibney was in breach of Rule 32 (ii) and consequently fined him €150 having taken his previous record into consideration.

Thomas Gibney, trainer of Velvet Rose, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his charge went lame during the race and was pulled up

038E Charlie Lowry Memorial H'cap S'chase

The Turf Club Veterinary Officer examined Sir Abbot, trained by Robert Tyner, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.

038F Newgrange Veterans H'cap S'chase

The Stewards interviewed A.P. Heskin, rider of Organisedconfusion, trained by C.A.McBratney, concerning his riding in the latter stages when electing to jump the final fence on a horse that appeared to be very tired. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who stated that his mount was a very careful animal in general and today he jumped very well until tiring between the last two fences. He added that he was still satisfied to jump the final fence and never felt in any doubt about falling at that point. Having viewed the recording and considered the evidence, the Stewards advised A.P. Heskin to consider more carefully whether or not to pull up in a race in similar circumstances in the future.

038G Athboy (Pro-Am) INH Flat Race
