The Stewards fined the following trainers in respect of their non-runners:-

Edward Lynam, trainer of Soffia (GB) (Ground) - €200.
Edward Lynam, trainer of Soffia (GB) (Late withdrawal) - €200
John Joseph Murphy, trainer of Rosin Box (Going) - €200
John Joseph Murphy, trainer of Rosin Box (Late withdrawal) - €320.

297A Irish Stallion Farms EBF M'dn

The Stewards interviewed Edward Lynam, trainer of Soffia (GB), at his request, in relation to the excuse offered for the late withdrawal of this horse, the excuse given as 'ground'. Evidence was heard from the trainer concerned who stated that he was concerned that today's testing ground may have an adverse affect on his juvenile filly and sought permission to withdraw. Having considered the evidence, the Stewards allowed the withdrawal but imposed a fine of €200 for the lateness of the withdrawal and €200 for the excuse offered.

S. Foley, rider of Compass Hill (USA) trained by John Joseph Murphy, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount became restless in the stalls and missed the break.

W.M. Lordan, rider of Slumming Angel trained by Edward Lynam, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount was slowly away.

The Stewards interviewed K.K. Hennessy, rider of Maarek (GB), concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards found K.K. Hennessy in breach of Reg. 10 3.(f) by using his whip with excessive frequency and having taken his record into account suspended him for two race days.

G.P. Brouder, rider of Ducky Mallon trained by Donal Kinsella, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount suffered slight interference in the final furlong.

297E Arkle Bar H'cap

The Stewards requested a report from G.M.Lyons, trainer as to the apparent improvement in form of Il Piccolo Grande, placed first, as compared with its recent form. The trainer's representative, S. Lyons, reported that this horse has been quite inconsistent. He may have been suited by today's galloping track on testing going. Having considered the evidence the Stewards noted the explanation offered.
