The Stewards enquired into the running and riding of Pack Your Bags, ridden by R.C. Colgan, and trained by Robert Tyner. Evidence was heard from the trainer's representative, the rider and Mr Andrew Shaw, Turf Club N.H Handicapper. Mrs Mary Tyner, Authorised representative of Robert Tyner, stated that the rider was instructed to jump off with the pace in mid division and to do his best. She felt in running that her charge was unable to go with the pace and was flat out at all stages. She explained that this animal disappointed over fences last time out and was switched back over hurdles today but his home work is always consistently good. She added that he is a nervous type of horse who travelled from Cork today fitted with a hood and raced with ear plugs. She concluded by expressing her satisfaction with the ride and the performance of her charge. R.C. Colgan, rider, confirmed the instructions and described his ride in detail by stating that his mount was flat out and unable to go the early pace. He added that he slapped him down the shoulder on leaving the back straight and pushed and squeezed him along but only passed tiring horses in the closing stages by staying on at the same speed as he had raced throughout. Mr Andrew Shaw, Turf Club N.H. Handicapper analysed the form of the horse both over hurdles and fences and informed the Stewards that the animal was also a Point to Point winner. He confirmed that overall the animal was disappointing and had been dropped 4lbs from a high of 92. The Stewards also received a report from the Turf Club Veterinary Officer who stated that Pack Your bags was post race normal. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards noted the explanations.

GENERAL INFORMATION

The Stewards received a report from Ms Inge D'Haese, Turf Club Veterinary Officer, in relation to the finding in the stable yard of a syringe in the racing tack bag of Mrs John Harrington. Evidence was heard from Ms D'Haese which included the fact that the syringe was cracked and therefore unserviceable. Eamon Leigh, Authorised representative of Mrs Harrington accepted the report and produced the syringe to clarify that it was broken and of no use. He admitted that it was contained in a bag that is kept in the lorry and generally never brought into the yard. Having considered the report, the Stewards were satisfied that there was a breach of R9 but having taken into consideration Mr Leighs long service and clean record combined with the fact that the syringe was unserviceable, they cautioned Mrs Harrington through her representative concerning her future responsibilities in this regard. Mrs T.K. Cooper, Acting Steward< absented herself from this enquiry.
