The Stewards authorised the following substitutions of riders at this meeting:

R.P. Downey replaced C. O'Donoghue on Little White Owl, trained by David Marnane (Race 1)(see enquiry)
R.P. Downey rode Elusive John (reserve) , trained by E. McNamara (Race 6)
N.G. McCullagh replaced D.E. Sheehy on Duchess Of France, trained by Adrian Paul Keatley (Race 7)(injured)

The Stewards enquired into the circumstances surrounding the late arrival of C. O'Donoghue, the declared rider of Little White Owl, necessitating a change of rider. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who explained the circumstances surrounding his late arrival. Having considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that C. O'Donoghue was in breach of Rule 196(v). Having taken his previous record in this regard into account, the Stewards fined him €200.

R.P. Cleary, rider of Taras Way trained by P.J.F. Murphy, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount got no luck in running.

The Stewards enquired into possible interference early in the home straight involving Finn McCool, ridden by D. O'Brien, placed third and Naughty Or Nice, ridden by D.P. McDonogh, placed first, where it appeared Naughty Or Nice manoeuvered outwards and connected with Finn McCool. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards made no alteration to the Judge's placings. They did, however, find that D.P. McDonogh was in breach of Rule 214 in that he had ridden carelessly. Having taken his previous record in this regard into account, the Stewards suspended him for two racedays. Furthermore the Stewards enquired into a second incident of possible interference in the closing stages involving Naughty Or Nice and Belgravia(GB), ridden by J.A. Heffernan placed fourth, where it appeared that Belgravia(GB) ran short of racing room close to the rail and was checked. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Having viewed a recording of the incident and considered the evidence, the Stewards made no alteration to the Judge's placings but found that D.P. McDonogh was in breach of Rule 214 in that he had ridden carelessly. Having considered only his previous record at Dundalk in November 2016, the Stewards suspended D.P. McDonogh for two racedays.

D.P. McDonogh, rider of Downtown Rebel (USA) trained by Andrew Slattery, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount was checked in running after a furlong.

The Stewards requested a report from M.D. O'Callaghan, trainer, as to the apparent improvement in form of Veneer Of Charm, placed first, as compared with its recent form. The trainer reported that his horse broke well today on what was a stiffer track and on more suitable ground conditions and felt that this had brought about the apparent improvement in form. Having considered the report, the Stewards noted the explanation offered

W.J. Lee, rider of Valentana, trained by W. McCreery, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount met with interference in the closing stages and was eased.
