The Stewards requested a report from S.J.Mahon, trainer, as to the apparent improvement in form of Champagne Harmony, placed first, as compared with its recent form. S.J. Mahon reported that his charge was making his reappearance at Punchestown on the 14th January after a seven month absence when running in his first steeplechase. He expressed his disappointment with that run but noted that the animal had a good blow post race. He added that he expected a good performance at Thurles on the 23rd February but his charge was not as straight as he had thought. He felt that he had improved for that run and considered that his class got him through todays testing conditions. Having considered the evidence the Stewards noted the content of the report.
