Protecting the Integrity & Reputation of Irish Horseracing

Naas 30th September 2018

276A Irish Stallion Farms EBF M'dn

The Stewards enquired into possible interference in the straight involving Morpho Blue, ridden by C. O'Donoghue, placed sixth, Sandstorm Annie, ridden by R.C. Colgan, unseated and Stella D'italia (GB), ridden by N.G. McCullagh, slipped up, where it appeared Stella D'italia fell and Sandstorm Annie was unseated. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards made no alteration to the Judge's placings. The Stewards did however find C. O'Donoghue in breach of Rule 214 by riding carelessly and having taken his previous record into acccount suspended him for seven race days.

276C Loughbrown Stakes

The Stewards advised a representative of W.P. Mullins, trainer of Renneti (FR), that a repeat of this horse's performance today, where the horse refused to race shortly after leaving stalls, would render him liable to suspension in future.

C.T. Keane, rider of Renneti (FR), trained by W.P. Mullins, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount was reluctant to race.

D. O'Brien, rider of Victory Salute trained by A.P.O'Brien, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount hung badly.

276D Foran Equine Irish EBF Auction Race

B.M. Coen, rider of Check My Pulse trained by Andrew Slattery, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount never travelled.

The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Check My Pulse, trained by Andrew Slattery, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.

The Stewards interviewed C.D. Hayes, rider of Cedars Of Lebanon, concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned and from the IHRB Veterinary Officer, Dr. Lynn Hillyer, MRCVS. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards found the rider in breach of Reg.10.3 (f) by using his whip with excessive force and having taken his previous record into account suspended him for two race days.

276G Beresford Stakes

The Stewards enquired into an incident in the straight involving Guaranteed, ridden by K.J. Manning, Japan (GB), ridden by J.A. Heffernan, and Power Of Now, ridden by L.F. Roche, where it appeared Power Of Now ran short of room and leaned onto Guaranteed. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards advised J.A. Heffernan to ride with more care in future.

276H Remembering Nick Columb H'cap

D.P. McDonogh, rider of Check Your Pockets (USA), trained by John E. Kiely, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount caught a heel after 50 yards.

The Stewards requested a report from G.M.Lyons, trainer as to the apparent improvement in form of Omran (GB), placed first, as compared with its recent form. The trainer reported that this horse has been generally disappointing but today's race seemed to work out for him today. Having considered the evidence the Stewards noted the explanation offered.
