The Stewards authorised the following substitutions of riders at this meeting:

A.P. Heskin rode Bridgets Pet (reserve) , trained by Alan Fleming (Race 5)
B.J. Geraghty replaced A.P. Crowe on Cantlow, trained by Paul Webber (in GB) (Race 5)(Intended mount a non runner)

256A Exchange Inn Ballybunion Med. Auct. M'dn

The Stewards enquired into an incident about 150 yards from the finish involving Boxer Dunford, ridden by F.M. Berry, unplaced, Mizen Master, ridden by J.M. Conneely, unplaced and Waseefa (GB), ridden by C.P. Hoban, unplaced, where it appeared that Boxer Dunford ran short of room and had to check. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that the incident was caused by J.M. Conneely riding carelessly and consequently severely cautioned him having taken his clean previous record into consideration.

256D Seamus Mulvaney H'cap

The Stewards received a report from the Clerk of the Scales, P.L. Malone, that J.M. Conneely, rider of Water Sprite, presented himself at scales at 2lbs overweight when weighing out and was also wearing a body protector with the crotch strap removed. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who stated that he had been on holiday recently and was nominated to ride this horse yesterday with no prior notice. He added that he had ridden at a lighter weight earlier this year but got caught unawares this time. Having considered the evidence, the Stewards were satisfied that J.M. Conneely was in breach of Rule 198 (vii) by weighing out at 2lbs overweight when such overweight had not been declared under Rule 195 (i) and consequently fined him €150. Furthermore the Stewards were satisfied that he was in breach of R10 and Rule 198 (v) by attempting to weigh out with a defective body protector and consequently suspended him for 7 racedays .

V.Clifford, trainer of Malicious Intent, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his charge struggled to pick up on todays heavy ground.

256E Guinness Kerry National H'cap S'chase

The Stewards interviewed G.N. Fox, rider of Rogue Angel, concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of this race and after the winning post. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion that G.N. Fox was in breach of R10(4) by failing to give his mount time to respond to the whip and furthermore was also in breach of R10(3)(d) by hitting his mount after the winning post had been reached and consequently severely cautioned him having taken his good record into consideration.
