The Stewards authorised the following substitutions of riders at this meeting:

D.N. Russell rode Hughies Bay (reserve), trained by Daniel John Howard (Race 3)

D.N. Russell, rider of Hughies Bay trained by Daniel John Howard, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount tired quickly and was pulled up thereafter.

047D Limerick Family Fun Day 21st May Hcp Hdl

P.T. Enright, rider of Emerald Honours trained by John J. Walsh, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount did not handle the ground.

The Stewards received a report from Mr. Hugh Hynes, Turf Club Clerk of the Scales, regarding the fact that L.J. McGuinness, rider of Gold Smoke, weighed in at 1.1 lbs overweight. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having considered the evidence, the Stewards were satisfied that the rider was in breach of Rule 231 and having taken his previous record in this regard into account, they suspended him for two racedays.

The Stewards received a report from Ms. Nicola O'Connor, Turf Club Veterinary Officer, that she was unable to positively identify Quick Juke, trained by P.J. Rothwell, from the markings provided on the passport. Evidence was heard from Ms. O'Connor and the trainer concerned. Having considered the evidence and taken into account that the passport was not endorsed by the trainer as required under the provisions of Regulation 8, the Stewards ordered the withdrawal of Quick Juke from this race under Rule 90 (v) and referred the matter to the Chief Executive of the Turf Club for further investigation.

The Stewards interviewed Mr T. Hamilton, rider of Shady Operator, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that the rider was in breach of Regulation 10.3(f) in that he had used his whip with excessive frequency. Having considered his record, the Stewards cautioned him.

The Stewards interviewed Mr J.J. Codd, rider of Stooshie, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that the rider was in breach of Regulation 10.3 (f) in that he had used his whip with excessive force. Having considered his record, the Stewards cautioned him.
