Limerick 13th March 2016

047C Ryans Cleaning M'dn H'dle

The Stewards received a report from Ms. Nicola O'Connor, Turf Club Veterinary Officer, stating that according to the date recorded on the passport of Kilclooney Wood, trained by Brian O'Keeffe, a vaccination was shown to have been administered less than seven days prior to todays race. Having considered the report, the Stewards ordered the withdrawal of Kilclooney Wood in accordance with Rule 87(vii)(a) and Rule 91(i) and fined the trainer €350.

047D The Irish Field H'cap H'dle

The Stewards fined Gordon Elliott, trainer, €350 for lodging a passport in respect of Brand Ambassador, in which the vaccinations did not conform with the provisions of Rule 91. The Stewards allowed the horse to run on receipt of the trainer's written assurance that the vaccinations were in order.

The Stewards interviewed B.T. O'Connell, rider of Monasteradenpauric, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stage of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that the rider was in breach of Regulation 10.3(g), in that he had used his whip with the arm above shoulder height and Regulation 10.3(e), in that he had used his whip other than down the shoulder or the hind quarters. Having considered his previous record in this regard, the Stewards suspended him for four racedays and ordered that he attend R.A.C.E for one day's tuition on the correct use of the whip.

M.J. Bolger, rider of Dare To Endeavour (GB) trained by E. McNamara, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount made a noise and was pulled up thereafter.

047G Charleville Cheese Beginners S'chase

The Stewards requested a report from James Ivors, Authorised representative for Michael J. McDonagh, trainer, as to the apparent improvement in form of Wildcatted (GER), placed first, as compared with its recent form. Mr Ivors reported that a combination of a very good round of jumping on a track where he had previous good form, in what he felt was a poor race, had brought about about the improved performance. Having considered the evidence the Stewards noted the explanation offered.

The Stewards interviewed I.J. McCarthy, rider of Follow The Sign, concerning his riding in this race and the refusal of his mount at the second last fence. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that the rider was in breach of Rule 272, in that he had failed to pull up his mount. Having considered his record, the Stewards suspended him for three racedays.

The Turf Club Veterinary Officer examined Follow The Sign, at the request of trainer, Oliver McKiernan, and reported the animal to be post race normal.
