D.P. McDonogh, rider of Birds Of Prey trained by John M. Oxx, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount received a check shortly after leaving stalls.

The Stewards enquired into an incident shortly after leaving stalls involving Birds Of Prey, ridden by D.P. McDonogh, Orderofthegarter, ridden by E.J. McNamara, and Sir Edwin Landseer, ridden by Anastasia O'Brien, where it appeared Birds Of Prey checked. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Anastasia O'Brien stated that her mount was running green and hanging to the left. E.J. McNamara accepted that his mount had moved across before reaching the marker poles but he felt he had eased into that position having regard for the other riders. Evidence was also heard from D.P. McDonogh. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards found Anastasia O'Brien in breach of Rule 211 (marker poles) and Rule 214 by riding carelessly. Having taken her record into account the Stewards cautioned her for each rule breach. The Stewards further found E.J. McNamara in breach of Rule 211 (marker poles) and having taken his record into account the Stewards imposed a fine of €100 on the rider.
