The Stewards requested a report from Mrs John Harrington, trainer, as to the apparent improvement in form of Dancing Noretta, placed first, as compared with its recent run at Leopardstown 25th June. Mrs John Harrington reported that this filly boiled over in the preliminaries at Leopardstown in a race which was run on good to firm ground. Tonight the filly raced on an easier surface and was fitted with a hood which in her opinion were both significant factors in the improved performance. Having considered the evidence the Stewards noted the content of the report.

180D Celtic Steps At Killarney (Q.R.) Race

The Stewards interviewed Miss K. Harrington, rider of Gambling Girl, concerning her use of the whip in the latter stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion that Miss K. Harrington was in breach of R10(3)(f) by using her whip with excessive frequency, R10(3)(g) by using her whip with her arm above shoulder height and R(10)(4) by failing to give her mount time to respond between each hit with the whip and consequently suspended her for 5 racedays having taken her previous record into consideration.

180F MC Group H'cap S'chase

The Stewards enquired into the reason why C.A. Landers presented himself at scales at 2lbs overweight for his intended ride on Captain Luke trained by J.P. Broderick when no declaration to this effect had been made in accordance with the provisions of Rule 195(i). C.A. Landers stated that his weighing scales was faulty and he realised on arrival at the racetrack today that he was overweight. Evidence was also heard from Michael Carroll, Authorised representative of J.P. Broderick. Having considered all the evidence, the Stewards allowed C.A. Landers to fulfill his riding engagement but fined him €150 for a breach of Rule 198(vii).

D.J. Mullins, rider of Allied Victory trained by Henry de Bromhead, reported to the Clerk of Scales that he pulled up his mount in the belief that he had gone lame but subsequently found him to be sound on his return to the unsaddling area.

180G McSweeney Arms Hotel 65th Novice S'chase

The Stewards enquired into the running and riding of Bridgets Pet, ridden by Mr John J Fitzpatrick and trained by Alan Fleming. Evidence was heard from the trainer and rider concerned. Alan Fleming stated that in view of his charge being a keen type of runner and an inconsistent jumper he therefore instructed the rider to drop in off the pace, to take his time, get him to switch off and creep into the race. He added that his charge made a very bad mistake at the first fence but by then the rider was too far out of his ground and had over exaggerated the riding instructions. He felt that the rider should have been closer and it was apparent from an early stage that he could not get into the race. Mr John J. Fitzpatrick confirmed the riding instructions and stated that he dropped him in early but misjudged the slow pace and did not realise how far he was off the leaders so early in the race. He added that he did not want his mount to race at his fences and overall he was not satisfied with his position in the back straight . The Stewards also received a report from the Turf Club Veterinary Officer who stated that Bridgets Pet was sound post race. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards noted Alan Flemings explanation. They were of the opinion that Mr John J. Fitzpatrick was in breach of Rule 212(a)(i) and consequently suspended him for 10 racedays.

The Turf Club Veterinary Officer examined Bridgets Pet, trained by Alan Fleming, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be sound post race.
