The Stewards interviewed S.E. Lewis, rider of Rock On Seamie, concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion that S.E. Lewis was in breach of R10(3)(b) by using his whip unnecessarily when his horse's chance of winning or being placed was clearly gone. Having taken his previous record into consideration, the Stewards cautioned S.E. Lewis on this occasion.

209B Kenny Galway H'cap H'dle

The Stewards fined Johnny Farrelly (in GB), trainer, €350 for lodging a passport in respect of Polished Rock, in which the vaccinations did not conform with the provisions of Rule 91. The trainer withdrew Polished Rock through the non runner line.

The Stewards wished to interview W.J. Lee did not accept the veterinary findings. W.J. Lee, accepted that he had three previous breaches of R10(3) since the new whip Regulations came into effect. The Stewards wished to enquire into the fall of Eadbhard, ridden by B.M. Coen in the area of the three furlong marker on the first circuit. The Stewards were unable to hear evidence from B.M. Coen as he was detained in the Medical centre and was therefore unfit to give evidence. The Stewards Secretaries received a report from B.A. Curtis, rider of Snookered, that he was alongside B.M. Coen when he noticed that his mount began to run keen, raced up onto the horse in front of him and clipped a heel resulting in his fall. A further report was received from C.T. Keane rider of Eight And Bob (GB) that he was on the outside of B.M. Coen at the time of the fall and in his opinion his mount caught a heel and came down independently. As the Stewards were unable to interview B.M. Coen, they referred this matter to the CEO of the IHRB for further investigation
