The Stewards fined the following trainers in respect of their non-runners:-

Eoin Doyle, trainer of Fiesole (GB) (Off Feed) - €200
D. K. Weld, trainer of Haripour (Off Feed) - €200

204A Guinness H'cap H'dle

The Stewards enquired into the running and riding of Golden Spear (GB), ridden by John J. Fitzpatrick, and trained by A.J.Martin. Evidence was heard from the rider and trainer concerned. John J Fitzpatrick, stated that his instructions were to jump off in the first five or six and stay down the inner. Prior the race he arrived last to the start and jumped off further back than he wanted to and was forced to drop out. Consequently he was stopped up the inner and got no luck in-running. He stated that his mount hung to the left when coming down the hill. He felt the horse may appreciate better going. A.J.Martin, confirmed the instructions to the rider to be handy or race mid division and stay down the inner. He stated that he wanted to claim off the horse and that he is a small good-actioned horse that ideally wants better ground. He felt the horse was ridden too far out of his ground and had too many horses in front of him when ridden to challenge. He expressed himself dissatisfied with the ride and that he was five or six lengths further back than where he should have been and in his opinion the horse might have won with a more energetic ride. The Stewards also received a report from the Turf Club Veterinary Officer who stated that Golden Spear (GB) was coughing post race. Samples were taken for analysis. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards noted the explanations offered.
The Stewards did however find John J. Fitzpatrick in breach of Rule 213 by failing to report that his mount hung in-running and having taken his record into account severely cautioned him regarding his future responsibilities in this regard.

The Stewards fined Jarlath P.Fahey, trainer, €350 for lodging a passport in respect of Howya Harry, in which the vaccinations did not conform with the provisions of Rule 91. The Stewards allowed the horse to run on receipt of the trainer's written assurance that the vaccinations were in order.

204C Guinness Galway Blazers H'cap S'chase

D.N. Russell, rider of On Fiddlers Green trained by Henry de Bromhead, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount made a bad mistake.

The Stewards interviewed J.S. McGarvey, rider of The Gatechecker, concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards found the rider in breach of Reg. 10. 3.(f) by using his whip with excessive frequency and having taken his clean record into account, cautioned him regarding his future whip use.

The Stewards interviewed B.J. Geraghty, rider of Riviera Sun, concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards found B.J. Geraghty in breach of Reg. 10 3.(f) by using his whip with excessive frequency and having taken his clean record into account the Stewards cautioned him regarding his future whip use.

The Stewards interviewed S.W. Flanagan, rider of Net D'Ecosse (FR), concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards found the rider in breach of Regulation 10 3.(f) by using his whip with excessive force and frequency and having taken his previous record into account suspended him for two race days.

The Stewards interviewed D. Meyler, rider of Phil's Magic, concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards found D. Meyler in breach of Reg. 10 3 (f) by using his whip with excessive force and frequency and Reg. 10 3 (e) by using his whip on a place other than on the shoulder or hind quarters and having taken his previous clean record into account suspended him for three race days.

The Turf Club Veterinary Officer examined On Fiddlers Green, trained by Henry de Bromhead, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.

204E Guinness Irish EBF (Fillies) M'dn

The Stewards received a report from the Clerk of the Scales, P.L. Malone, regarding the failure of J.A. Heffernan, rider of Clementina (FR), placed sixth to weigh-in after this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having considered the evidence, the Stewards disqualified Clementina (FR) from sixth place and cautioned J.A. Heffernan.

The Turf Club Veterinary Officer examined Lady Nathaniel, trained by G.M.Lyons, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.
