J.A. Heffernan, rider of Althib (GB), trained by Denis Gerard Hogan, reported, in the course of an enquiry, that his mount hung badly left in the last half furlong following interference in the straight.

The Stewards enquired into an incident in the straight involving January Morn (USA), ridden by W.T. Byrne, Althib (GB), ridden by J.A. Heffernan, and Nightflight, ridden by S.P. Davis, where it appeared January Morn (USA) ran short of room. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards found S.P. Davis in breach of Rule 214 by riding carelessly and having taken his previous record into account suspended him for two race days.

174D Irish Stallion Farms EBF Brownstown Stks

The Stewards requested a report from W.T. Farrell, trainer as to the apparent improvement in form of Xenobia, placed first, as compared with its recent form. The trainer reported that this filly got a little wound-up prior to the start at the Curragh last time out and the race didn't work out for her as she got tight for room at one stage. Having considered the report from the trainer the Stewards noted its contents.
