The Stewards fined the following trainer in respect of their non-runner:-

Mrs Denise Foster, trainer of Too Many Notes (declaration error) - €200

The Stewards authorised the following substitutions of riders at this meeting:

D.N.Russell replaced J.W. Kennedy on Knockmaole Boy, trained by Gordon Elliott (Race 5)(injured)

021A Leading Light & Ocovango M'dn H'dle

The Stewards fined John E. Kiely, trainer, €350 for lodging a passport in respect of Django Du Pecos (FR), in which the vaccinations did not conform with the provisions of Rule 91. The Stewards allowed the horse to run on receipt of the trainer's written assurance that the vaccinations were in order.

The Stewards received a report from the Clerk of the Scales, Mr.P.W.Murtagh, that K.M. Donoghue, rider of Get It Back, attempted to weigh out with a Level 1 body protector and when instructed to change to a Level 2 body protector, presented himself to scales at two pounds overweight. Evidence was heard from the Clerk of the Scales and from the rider concerned, who accepted the report. Having considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that the rider was in breach of Rules 195(i), 198(v) and 198(vii)(a) and having considered his record suspended him for 7 racedays for his safety equipment and a further two days for being 2 pounds overweight that had not been declared, it being his second offence in this regard.

The Stewards enquired into the running and riding of Look Closer, ridden by Rachael Blackmore, and trained by Miss Ellmarie Holden. Evidence was heard from the rider and trainer concerned and also from Ray Cody, assistant trainer. Rachael Blackmore, stated that her instructions were to settle her mount three quarters way back giving him confidence, to try get him to finish the race well and to run to the best of his ability. She added that the horse jumped novicey and she slowly crept into the race but ultimately emptied in the straight. Miss Ellmarie Holden, confirmed the instructions and expressed her satisfaction with the ride. Ray Cody added that the horse emptied on his last start and felt that the horse had to be held onto to get the trip on this ground.
The Stewards also received a report from the Turf Club Veterinary Officer who stated that Look Closer was 1 out of 5 lame on the right hind post race. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that there was a breach of Rule 212a(ii) and having considered their records Miss Holden was fined €2,000, Look Closer was suspended for 42 days and the rider was suspended for 5 racedays and ordered to forfeit her riding fee.

The Stewards enquired into the running and riding of Bench Marker, ridden by J.M. Moore, and trained by Paul Nolan. Evidence was heard from the rider and trainer concerned. J.M. Moore, stated that his instructions were to jump off handy behind the leaders. He added that the horse never travelled but stayed on past beaten horses in the straight. Paul Nolan, stated that he was happy with the ride but the horse would benefit from a step up in trip. The Stewards also received a report from the Turf Club Veterinary Officer who stated that Bench Marker was post race normal. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards noted the explanations offered.

021B Coolmore Soldier Of Fortune (M) Nov Hdle

S.W. Flanagan, rider of She's A Star trained by Noel Meade, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount never travelled and was pulled up.

M.A. Enright, rider of Avellino trained by Ms. Maria Richert, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount never travelled and was pulled up.

021C Next Racing Feb. 25th Novice H'cap H'dle

A. Ring, rider of Luckey Seven trained by Eoin Doyle, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount never travelled and was pulled up.

J.J. Burke, rider of Shrewdoperator trained by P.J. Rothwell, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount stopped quickly and was pulled up.

M.P. Walsh, rider of Rogue Trader trained by T.J. Taaffe, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount never travelled.

The Turf Club Veterinary Officer examined Rogue Trader, trained by T.J. Taaffe, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be sore behind post race.

T.J. Taaffe, trainer of Rogue Trader, reported to the Office of the Governing Bodies on Wednesday 22nd March that his charge was found to have sore muscles following this race.

021F Irish Grand National April 17th Hcp S'ch

The Stewards interviewed R.P. Treacy, rider of Tulpar, concerning his use of the whip in this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion that the rider was in breach of Regulation 10.3(g) and 10.4, in that he used the whip above shoulder height,without giving his mount time to respond and having considered his clean record, suspended him for two race days.

C.D. Maxwell, rider of Telenor (GB) trained by Anthony Mulholland, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount never travelled and was pulled up.

021G Coolmore EBF (Mares) INH Flat Race

B.P. Galvin, trainer of Winged Empress, reported to the Office of the Governing Bodies on Monday 7th February that his charge was found to be lame on the morning after this race.
