The Stewards authorised the following substitutions of riders at this meeting:

C.O'Donoghue replaced F.M. Berry on Desert Haze (GB), trained by Ralph Beckett (in GB) (Race 5)(injured)
M.Harley replaced F.M. Berry on Shabra Emperor, trained by Anthony McCann (Race 6)(injured)

302A Floodlit Friday Nights At Dundalk M'dn

The Stewards fined John C. McConnell, trainer, €350 for lodging a passport in respect of Al Batal (GB), in which the vaccinations did not conform with the provisions of Rule 91. The Stewards allowed the horse to run on receipt of the trainer's written assurance that the vaccinations were in order.

P.J. Smullen, rider of A Likely Story, trained by D. K. Weld, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount lost his action in the closing stages as his stride shortened.

302B Christmas Party Nights Nursery H'cap

The Stewards enquired into an incident involving Sayde, ridden by D.E. Sheehy, John Honeyman, ridden by C. O'Donoghue, Lady Ravenna, ridden by G.F. Carroll, Norman Wells (GB), ridden by G.P. Halpin, and Milo's Lass, ridden by R.P. Downey. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned, in the presence of Eamon Sheehy, trainer, who accompanied D.E.Sheehy in the Stewards room. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that G.P.Halpin was in breach of Rule 214, in that he rode carelessly and having considered his record, suspended him for two race days. Furthermore the rider was reminded of his future responsibilities to report anything which may have affected performance, in accordance with Rule 213.

The Stewards requested a report from John Joseph Murphy, trainer as to the apparent improvement in form of Burning Brightly, placed first, as compared with its recent form. The trainer's representative, Sinead O'Sullivan, reported that the horse ran freely on his last start on ground softer than ideal. She added that the horse settled better over today's shorter trip and seemed to appreciate the surface. Having considered the evidence the Stewards noted the explanation offered.

C. O'Donoghue, rider of John Honeyman trained by Mrs John Harrington, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount was badly hampered in running.

302E Irish Stallion Farms EBF Cooley (F) Stks

The Stewards interviewed M. Harley, rider of Mukaabra (GB), concerning his use of the whip in this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion that the rider was in breach of Regulation 10.3(g), in that he used the whip with his arm above shoulder height and having considered his clean record, cautioned him concerning his future responsibilities in this regard.

302F1 Crowne Plaza Leading Jockey&Trainer Hcap

The Stewards interviewed Karen Kenny, rider of Big Bad Blonde, concerning her use of the whip in this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion that the rider was in breach of Regulation 10.3(g), in that she used the whip with her arm above shoulder height and having considered her record cautioned her regarding her future responsibilities in this regard.
