The Stewards requested a report from Damian Joseph English, trainer, as to the apparent improvement in form of Dylan Express, placed first, as compared with its recent form. The trainer reported that there were two contributing factors to the success. Firstly, his yard was under a cloud last year with a viral infection that lasted for most of the year and he trained his sole winner in November. Since then the horses have shown improved form and this is his second winner in a short space of time. Secondly, Dylan Express became very upset in stalls at Bellewstown last August and since then had given problems at the start most notably the last day at Cork when becoming very upset in stalls and consequently ran very disappointingly. Today a hood was reapplied and this seemed to have a positive effect. Having considered the evidence the Stewards noted the content of the report.

The Stewards enquired into an incident soon after entering the straight involving Baby Dinnis, ridden by R. Coakley, placed first, Gainmill Lady, ridden by C.P. Hoban, unplaced, Comingatu, ridden by F.M. Berry, unplaced and Millennium Dancer, ridden by G.J. Phillips, unplaced, where it appeared both Gainmill Lady and Comingatu received interference. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were satisfied that the incident was caused by G.J. Phillips riding carelessly and therefore was in breach of Rule 214. They suspended G.J. Phillips for 1 raceday having taken his previous record into consideration.

The Stewards interviewed R. Aguiar, rider of Azamesse, concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were satisfied that R. Aguiar was in breach of R10(3)(f) by using his whip with excessive frequency and also R10(4) by failing to give his mount time to respond. Consequently R. Aguiar was cautioned having taken his previous good record into consideration.
