The Stewards received a report from the Clerk of the Scales, Miss Colleen Murphy, that C.D. Hayes, rider of Mohayyen (USA), had weighed in at 1.2lbs overweight. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who stated that he had a small drink before going out to ride in this race. Having considered the evidence, the Stewards were satisfied that C.D. Hayes was in breach of Rule 231 and cautioned him having taken his previous good record into consideration.
