The Stewards fined the following trainer in respect of their non-runner:-

J.A. Nash, trainer of Tsar Paul (Declared In Error) - €200

The Stewards authorised the following substitutions of riders at this meeting:

S Foley replaced G.F. Carroll on Azure, trained by M.Halford (Race 2)(Stewards Permission - original mount non runner)

312A Irish Stallion Farms EBF (Fillies) M'dn

The Stewards fined John W. Nicholson, trainer, €350 for lodging a passport in respect of Nora Batt, in which the vaccinations did not conform with the provisions of Rule 91. The Stewards allowed the horse to run on receipt of the trainer's written assurance that the vaccinations were in order.

The Stewards informed M.Halford, trainer that Cafe Nervosa, would have to be recertified before being declared to run from stalls again.

C.R. King, rider of Syndex trained by Noel G. Hynds, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount was slow away from stalls.

Adrian Brendan Joyce, trainer of Ken's Sam's, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his charge was lame post race.

312B Big Bad Bob (C&G) M'dn

C.R. King, rider of Hasselnott (GB), trained by Augustine Leahy, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount hung badly right.

J.A. Heffernan, rider of Red Rannagh, trained by W.P.Browne, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount ran too free throughout.

The Stewards enquired into an incident in the final furlong involving Aspen Mountain, ridden by W.M. Lordan, winner, Hasselnott (GB), ridden by C.R. King, placed second, and Alphonsus (GB), ridden by D.P. McDonogh, placed fourth, where it appeared Alphonsus (GB) suffered slight interference. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion the interference was accidental and they took no further action.

312C Floodlit Friday Nights At Dundalk H'cap

C. Comerford, rider of Fast In The Wind, trained by P.D. Deegan, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount's saddle slipped.

The Stewards received a report from the Clerk of the Scales, W. Fleming, that P.B. Beggy, rider of Poetic Choice (GB), placed fifth, failed to weigh in after this race. Evidence was heard from W. Fleming and the rider concerned. Having considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion P.B. Beggy was in breach of Rule 227 (i) in that he failed to present himself to weigh in and they cautioned him in this regard.
Furthermore, using their powers under Rule 230 (ii), they disqualified Poetic Choice from fifth place.

The Stewards interviewed D. O'Brien, rider of Credit The Giver, placed second, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned, in the presence of Paul Nolan, trainer, representing A.P. O'Brien, trainer and master of D. O'Brien. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion D. O'Brien was in breach of Regulation 10 3 (f) in that he used his whip with excessive frequency and having taken his record into account they suspended him for 2 racedays.
Mr E. Irwin, Acting Steward, absented himself from this enquiry.
