262E Irish Stallion Farms EBF Beginners S'ch

The Stewards requested a report from Colin Bowe, trainer, as to the apparent improvement in form of Gold Patrol, placed first, as compared with its recent form at Listowel and Ballinrobe. Diarmaid Swan, Authorised representative of Colin Bowe, reported that the soft to heavy going at both Ballinrobe and Listowel did not suit this gelding and furthermore the application of a tongue strap today would be a contributing factor to the improved performance. Having considered the evidence the Stewards noted the content of the report.

262F Even More Strictly H'cap S'chase

The Stewards interviewed M.P. Butler, rider of Admiral Bob, concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion that M.P. Butler was in breach of R10(3)(f) by using his whip with excessive frequency, R10(3)(g) by using his whip with his arm above shoulder height and R10(4) by failing to give his mount time to respond to the whip. Consequently the Stewards suspended M.P. Butler for 4 racedays having taken his previous record into consideration.
