The Stewards enquired into the running and riding of Goddess (USA), ridden by J.A. Heffernan, and trained by A.P.O'Brien. Evidence was heard from the rider and trainer concerned. J.A. Heffernan, stated that his instructions were to settle his mount in mid division, to get her to relax and to do the best he could. He said his he knows his mount very well and she can be a keen type, but settled well despite a slow pace and added that when he went for his race, a gap momentarily opened but was closed quickly and he had no where to go in the closing stages. The Stewards acknowledged that J.A. Heffernan had already reported this as required under the provisions of Rule 213. A.P.O'Brien, confirmed the instructions given.
