123E Tattersalls Irish 1,000 Guineas

The Stewards enquired into possible interference just after the bend into the home straight involving Bean Feasa (GB), ridden by K.J. Manning, placed sixth, Hydrangea, ridden by P.B. Beggy, placed third and Rehana, ridden by P.J. Smullen, placed fifth, where it appeared Bean Feasa ran short of room and had to check. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that Rehana had caused interference to Bean Feasa (GB), and in doing so had improved her finishing position in relation to Bean Feasa (GB). The Stewards therefore reversed the placings of the fifth and sixth placed horses. Furthermore the Stewards were of the opinion that P.J. Smullen was in breach of Rule 214 in that he had ridden carelessly. Having considered his previous good record in this regard, the Stewards suspended him for one raceday.

P.J. Smullen, rider of Rehana trained by M.Halford, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount ran keen early on and stopped quickly.

123F Irish Tatler H'cap

The Stewards interviewed J. Cattigan, rider of Zafayan, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned in the presence of Mr. D. K. Weld, trainer, and master J. Cattigan. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that the rider was in breach of Regulation 10.3(b) in that he had used his whip unnecessarily, when his chance of winning or being placed had clearly gone. Having taken his previous good record in this regard into account, the Stewards cautioned him.

123H Irish Stallion Farms EBF 'Habitat' H'cap

K.J. Leonard, rider of Honor Oak trained by T.Hogan, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount was checked a furlong and a half from home.
