Curragh 16th July 2017

The Stewards fined the following trainer in respect of their non-runner:-

H.Rogers, trainer of Benkei (Going) - €200

180A Irish Stallion Farms EBF (Fillies) M'dn

Andrew Slattery, trainer of Emerald Eye, reported to the Turf Club Veterinary Officer that his charge made a respiratory noise in running.

180D Qatar Airways Minstrel Stakes

The Stewards enquired into the circumstances whereby Peace Envoy (FR), ridden by J.A. Heffernan and Spirit Of Valor (USA) ridden by R. Moore, both trained by A.P. O'Brien, had to be resaddled prior to leaving the parade ring. Evidence was heard from A.P. O'Brien who stated that a Turf Club Stipendiary Steward had questioned the saddling of his two charges while they were walking around the parade ring and he then realised that he had incorrectly placed the wrong saddles on both animals. He admitted that he had participated in the saddling of his runners in this race. Having considered evidence, the Stewards were satisfied that A.P. O'Brien was in breach of Rules 148(i) and 199 and having taken his recent record into consideration, fined him €500.
