The Stewards requested a report from A.P.O'Brien, trainer, as to the apparent improvement in form of The Pentagon, placed first, as compared with its recent run. Joseph O'Brien, Authorised representative of A.P. O'Brien, reported that this animal ran green on it's only previous run and the front running tactics on the faster underfoot conditions contributed to the improved performance. Having considered the evidence the Stewards noted the content of the report.

The Turf Club Veterinary Officer examined Rivellino (GB), trained by Adrian McGuinness, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal. Samples were taken for analysis.

The Stewards enquired into an incident in the latter stages of this race involving Normandy Barriere, ridden by P.J. Smullen, unplaced and Ma Fee Heela (FR), ridden by S.P. Davis, placed fourth, where it appeared that Normandy Barriere ran short of room and checked. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Hayes, placed fourth, where it appeared that Commander Grigio ran short of room and checked while racing close to the running rail. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that the incident was caused by C. O'Donoghue riding carelessly and therefore found him to be in breach of Rule 214. The Stewards suspended C. O'Donoghue for one raceday having taken his good previous record into consideration.
