The Stewards intended to enquire into the failure of M. Melia, Apprentice Jockey, to arrive at this meeting to ride Nora Batt, trained by John W. Nicholson. The trainer relayed to the Stewards Secretary that he had contacted Kevin Prendergast's office at about 11.45 a.m today and spoke to both the trainer and his secretary who each confirmed that their Apprentice Jockey M. Melia would be sent to Cork today to ride Nora Batt. John W. Nicholson having confirmed the rider's availability subsequently declared him to ride Nora Batt. As the rider did not appear at this meeting by the time of weighing out, the animal was withdrawn as no other rider was available. Having considered the evidence available, the Stewards were unable to conduct an enquiry with particular reference to Rule 153(i) as Kevin Prendergast, Master of M. Melia, was not present and therefore referred the matter to the Turf Club for further investigation. The Stewards granted permission for the withdrawal of Nora Batt.

The Stewards interviewed O.J. Orr, rider of Arbourfield, concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion that O.J. Orr was in breach of R10(3)(f) by using his whip with excessive frequency and therefore suspended him for 2 racedays having taken his previous record into consideration.

The Stewards interviewed G.P. Halpin, rider of Peace Maker (GER), concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion that G.P. Halpin was in breach of R10(3)(f) by using his whip with excessive frequency and therefore severely cautioned him having taken his previous record into consideration.

The Stewards requested a report from John James Feane, trainer, as to the apparent improvement in form of Peace Maker (GER), placed first, as compared with its recent form. James Feane, Authorised representative for John James Feane reported that this animal benefitted from the first time application of blinkers and the soft underfoot conditions. Having considered the evidence the Stewards noted the content of the report.

D. O'Brien, rider of Inescapable, trained by Joseph Patrick O'Brien, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that he was dislodged from his mount when the filly sustained a fatal injury early in the straight.
