The Turf Club Veterinary Officer examined Ken's Sam's, trained by Adrian Brendan Joyce, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.

The Stewards enquired into the running and riding of Ken's Sam's, ridden by C. O'Donoghue and trained by Adrian Brendan Joyce. Evidence was heard from the trainer and rider concerned. The trainer stated that he instructed the rider to drop the filly out as she likes to arrive late and he was to do his best. He added that she had her best form on the All Weather surface and today the filly was having her first run on grass for this season and a good run was expected. He further added that the filly had jumped out smartly but he thought that something was amiss about two furlongs from the finish as the rider was not pushing her out but felt that she was travelling well inside the final furlong. He informed the Stewards that he was initally concerned with the ride but on a debriefing with the rider he realised that the ground was patchy and had been filled with sand and therefore would not be to her liking as her only previous poor performances were on surfaces with a cut in the ground. C. O'Donoghue, rider, confirmed the instructions and agreed that she had broken smartly but about two furlongs out the filly hit patchy sand filled ground, got very disorganised and pitched forward. He added that he kept a hold of her head as she was a small filly and struggled on the ground. Evidence was also heard from Mark Birk, Turf Club Rules of Racing Handicapper. The Stewards also received a report from the Turf Club Veterinary Officer who stated that Ken's Sam's was post race normal. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards noted the explanations.
